The Telematic Project is now in its 10th year of creation led by Dr. Pauline Brooks and Dr. Luke Kahlich. Throughout this 10 year journey the project has changed members, beginning originally with just dancers from Liverpool John Moores University and Nova Southeastern University, Florida. In the last three years the company has also expanded to include musicians from Edinburgh Napier University.
The project links these three locations across the globe, via the internet, to create a live music and dance piece. Every Friday at 2pm (GMT) each university logs on to Visimeet and collaborates together to create movement and sound.
This project gives the unique experience of being viewed in four different ways; live in Liverpool, live in Florida, live in Edinburgh and to an online audience. Live audiences see all three universities on screen whilst also seeing live dance/ music in the space. This audience see’s everything that is in the cone of capture (what is captured on camera) as well as everything in the live space (anything outside of the cone of capture). However, the online audience can only see each university on the screen when in the cone of capture.
